The logo of the Unite State Fencing Association has change several times after its name change from the ALFA. For several years the sabre fencer fleching on the striped background remain constant, even after the action itself was banned in sabre.
In the April 2000 issue of American Fencing the final eight designs of a logo contest were presented for membership to vote on. The winning logo was a variation of the current logo with the weapon altered and USA more prominent.
The USFA changed the logo to a circular design in 2010 which was met with sharp disapproval from the membership. Another alteration of the fleching fencer was used until it was altered to it’s current design.
